LOWER DANUBE. Uncertain tribe. Circa 2nd-1st centuries BC. Drachm (Silver, 18 mm, 2.94 g, 11 h), imitating Alexander III of Macedon. Celticized head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. Celticized Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, amphora. Dembski 1463-4. Lanz 896. Lukanc pl. 4, 46. OTA 577/1. Nicely toned. Struck from a somewhat worn obverse die, otherwise, good very fine.
